One way to help your move go smoother, and lessen your stress, is to create a list of packing supplies you will need before the move.  If you start planning far enough in advance you can even save some money by using resources like friends, family and neighbors to help

gather these supplies.  You might be surprised how many people you know that want to get rid of extra boxes, newspaper etc.  Check out another one of our posts on how to get free moving boxes as well. 

Here is a good basic list of supplies you will need:

[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Packing Tape
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Duct Tape (great for those hard to seal boxes and items, when regular packing tape just won’t do the job!)
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Old Newspaper
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Bubble Wrap
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Sharpies (As many different colors as you can get.  Works great for color coding labels and boxes)
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Strong Trash Bags (For stuff that you want to donate, stuff you want to toss and also for any clothing or other items you will be moving to your new place).
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Plastic Baggies (small and large sizes.  Great for collecting hardware and other small parts from furniture you take apart.  Tape the bags onto a piece of the furniture it came from so you don’t lose anything!)
[wp-svg-icons icon=”checkmark” wrap=”i”] Tools (To take apart any furniture before moving and to put it back together once it reaches your destination).
