Moving Day Tips and Hacks

Mar 3, 2018 | Information

Moving day No matter what you do, your moving day will be stressful. There are so many things to worry about, especially if you have kids or pets. But, with a little planning and organization, you can decrease your stress levels on your moving day. Utilize these helpful hacks to help your big day go off without a hitch.

Prepare

By getting organized before the big day, you can slash your stress levels and speed up the moving process:

  • Pack all of your boxes and place them close to the front door. This will make it much easier and faster for the Colorado moving company to load the truck and transport your belongings.
  • Eat a simple breakfast. Keep cereal or granola bars out when packing, or make an early morning run to pick up donuts and coffee.
  • Pack an essentials bag. This duffel bag should be filled with personal items that you will need throughout the moving day and the day after. Pack clothing, toiletries, laptops, medications, and valuables like your ID and Social Security card. You should also include useful unpacking tools like scissors, paper towels, and trash bags.
  • Fill an “open first” box. This box should be full of the additional items you will need when you arrive at your new place like toilet paper, bedsheets, towels, soap, and more.

Kids and Pets

As mentioned before, moving with children or pets can increase your anxiety levels exponentially. If you have a short distance move, arrange other plans for your kids or pets. Send your pup to doggy daycare and your child to their friend’s house. This way, you don’t have to worry about them during the chaos of the move. If this is not an option for your child, get them involved with the move, so they feel like they’re helping. Give them a light box to carry or put them in charge of your essentials bag.

Relax

Take a deep breath and chill. There’s only so much you can do. Everything else is out of your control, so push it from your mind. After a stressful day, you don’t want to add more anxiety. Give yourself some me time at the end of the day. Order takeout, watch a movie, and go to bed early. You’ll be fully rested to start unpacking tomorrow.
